It was june and I had not seen louise for some weeks and I was getting worried that she had regreted her new Chelsea haircut, but things were about to take a change for the better.
I had just finished a cut a blow dry when a middle aged woman walked in. She had collar length ginger dyed hair, glasses and a roll neck jumper and matching crew neck cardigan and skirt - all in brown. Not the most fashionable woman on the planet but, hey ho and all that.
" Are you Karen", said the woman.
" Well yeh I suppose I am I guess ", replied Karen.
" You bitch - what have you done to my daughter with your hair clippers - what have you done " !!!!. Asked the woman.
"Look lady I don't know who you are or your daughter - if your asking about haircuts, I cut lost of styles each day". replied Karen
The lady turned out to be the louises mother and she was not happy, not just with her new punky haircut but her new clothes and body piercings she had done.
Emmmmm. Well her mother needs a hair cut, but I had to think fast if I was going to get out of this one.
" Why don't you come in and sit down and we can talk about it", said Karen as she began to play with the buttons on her polo shirt.
The lady came and sat in a cutting chair and complained that I had shaved all her daughters hair off and givern her a silly fringe, not only that but I was responsible for making her wear polo shirts that she had to have the collar fastended. She thought that Polo's were disgusting and should be banned as should Dr Martin boots.
I swivelled that chair round as If i was going to cut her hair and spoke to her through the mirror.
I explained that her daughter needed a new image and that she was boaring before I met her, and as for Polo shirts, they were the best thing ever invented, and made her a bet. Put one of mine on and after five minutes if she didn't like it I would give her $50.00.
Well the deal was made, I made her take all her clothes off and put a long denim skirt, polo shirt and Denim jacket on. Once I had settled her into her new clothes I began to turn the conversation around, and spoke about HAIR CUTTING !!!!!!
" So, how do you like your new clothes, they are ok - Yeh"? Asked Karen.
" Well - emm - well emm - they are kind of nice I supose", said the lady as she put her fingers inside the buttoned collar, playing with her ears and more importantly her hair.
" Would you like a trim"? Asked karen.
" Well I supose I could, but my hair keeps dropping down the collar and I don'y like it", replied the lady.
" No problem, but you will have it the way I want it - I am going the shave your neck bald and give you a punishment bowl cut - Would you like that, " said Karen in a stern voice.
The lady went red in the face and gulped in anticipation - touching the back of her head.
Karen went to stand infront of the lady and grabbed her hair yanking it forward, " Now you will pay for speaking to me that way you did, this is my salon, and now you will do as you are fucking told.!!!!!!!!!
Karen switched the clippers on, Hummmm hummmmm, and removed the gard!
Placing them at the base of her neck she forced them up 4 inches up the back of the neck, undercutting the hair. The lady began to sob, boo hooo, boo hoo. Karen smiled.
Next karen garbbed hold of the lady's left ear, ripping out her single stud earing, " Ahhhhh " creamed the lady.
Her head was forced over to one side as keren clipperd off all the hair above the ear, the process was repeated at the other side by which time the lady was sobbing her hart out!
Karen took hold of the lady's hair once more yanking it back so the head was straight up once more. The lady has stopped crying and started to look at the bare scalp that was just visable through her undercut.
" I haven't finished yet - more to come", said Karen as she smilied and played with her 2 inch streched left ear lobe.
Now it was time for the finished product, to shave a line all the way round her head, with a deep V point at the back for extra styling.
Hummmmm Hummmm, the clippers were brought back into action and turned over, first the were placed above the left ear and forced against her head and created a line. The process was repeated all the way round the face of the lady, making a line that came to the bridge of her nose restricting the vision of the lady. But now for the delicate part. A V shape needed to be cut at the back. The V would be quite high, the point of which was level with the ear lobes of the lady.
Now she was finished, A nice good V shaped bowl, the contrast was amazing the dyed ginger hair and grey clipperd scalp beneath.
" Now look in the mirror - who's a pretty girl now - polo girl" said Karen and she grabbed hold of the lady's hair and forced her to look in the mirror.
The lady wipped her tears away and looked in amazement at her new look - she could not believe the transformation from her old self to a modern trendy woman. She touched the lip of hair at the back and side as it dropped on to the bare scalp. A Large grin came to her face. She looked at Karen and smilled with a cheeky grin.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE"? Asked the lady.
"I have done my job, I am a barber, do you like your haircut and polo"? asked Karen.
"Oh Oh yes, my dear - thank you. I love my hair", said the lady as she walked out of the salon stroking her hair.
" What about your clothes"? Asked karen.
" Burn them - I am a bowl cut girl now, ha ha ha ", Replied the lady.
